”In working as a patent attorney, it's inspiring to take part in creating something new. I find it rewarding to help a client succeed and reach an excellent end result even though the constraints on the process can be extremely complex. The relationship between client and attorney is confidential since we deal with ideas that have not yet been disclosed. At best, this intense customer relationship can create a feeling of both parties working as part of the same community, which is great."

Tatu joined Laine IP in 2007 after working in the oil industry. He works as European Patent Attorney on the company’s ICT & mechanics team, and is responsible for patent applications as well as utility model cases related to mechanical inventions. Tatu also takes part in other selected projects and is Laine IP´s Deputy Managing Director.

Tatu has handled cases from the basic idea of a patent all the way to oppositions, appeals and patent litigation. He has mainly represented customers in the manufacturing industries, especially in logistics, audio engineering, optics, robotics, vehicle technology and construction. He is experienced in managing portfolios of all sizes and is always ready to advise clients who are new to patents.

Tatu holds a MSc (Eng) degree in Mechanical Engineering. He has also studied industrial economics at the Helsinki University of Technology.
